The 2018 Ballarat International Horse Trials took place last weekend at Victoria Park, with more than 400 riders competing in classes ranging from EvA80 to CIC3*.

The event spanned three days from Friday through to Sunday, and despite some chilly weather it was a success — and there were even riders from New Zealand and England. The higher levels gave WEG selectors a chance to view some of our top combinations in action, while in the lower levels there were riders vying for places at the Interschool Nationals.

Murray Lamperd and Chocoholic won the Ballarat Business CIC3* class on a score of 41.30. Second went to Rohan Luxmoore riding Bells N Whistles on 43.00, while third place went to Tania Harding and Jirrima Yorkshire on 45.40.

The Ballarat Business CIC2* was won by Andrew Cooper and Oaks Onyx with a score of 30.90, just ahead of Steph Hann and True Calibre on 32.80. Third place went to Jessica West and Mister Higgins on 34.40.

The Elmare Warmbloods CIC1* Div A was won by Jessica Grosmann and Noblewood Cloudbreak on 33.00, while Div B — sponsored by 4Cyte Vet — went to Genevieve Nicholson and Buckwell Park Archer on 32.10.

Off the Track also had a big presence at the event, and some 150 former racehorses were involved.

The event was the 11th hosted by Friends of Ballarat Eventing Association.
