Victorian vaulter, Alexandra Playfoot from local club, Melbourne Equestrian Vaulting (MEV) will compete at the FEI World Vaulting Championships for Juniors next month. Alex competed previously at this event as a flyer for the Australian Junior Squad, Team Zelos in 2015.  In recent years, the young vaulter has achieved qualifying scores at CVI 2* level for the world championships on three occasions.

Equestrian Australia announced Alex along with Bella Napthali and Ginger Kennett, who are both from NSW to compete in the Individual Junior Female category at the FEI championships.  In preparation for the competition Alex has been coached by Ellen Vincent of MEV, who was a successful competitor at the 2015 Junior Worlds event and at CVI competitions in Europe. In 2013 Alex, aged 11 and Ellen, aged 15, won the Open Pas de Deux at Nationals with a score of 6.694 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

Both coach and vaulter have worked very hard leading up to this event, with Alex being very excited to compete overseas for the first time as an individual vaulter. Based in Salzburg for the next 5 weeks, Alex will embark upon a rigorous training regime with local club, UVT Wals Schallergut. Her coach will be Brigitte Biberger. Her lunger will be Marcella Hoffman, and her horse will be Colorado. Alex will refine her freestyle and become familiar with her horse prior to competing in Ermelo. A Pas de Deux combination from the same club has also been selected to compete at the world championships.
