As one event ends, preparations start for the next

Well we are on the way home from Adelaide, overall I had a good time apart from just that one jump on the XC.  Cav pulled up well and jumped great in front of a big crowd and atmosphere with just two rails down in the last combination.  It was an amazing achievement to finish which many didn't.  Out of about 65 in the 2 star entrants I was one of only 34 to finish, so happy and even more determined to do better next year!

We didn't plan to leave too early this morning, so we walked up to Adelaide to a cafe for breakfast.  It was a nice change from the two minute noodles we have been living off this week.  Just as we sat down I got a call saying the stables were about to be pulled down!  After a lovely breakfast we headed back to get ready to leave, by this time we were the last ones in the car park apart from the Double Dan trucks.  I have only just started driving my truck so I was pleased to have to whole place to back and turn it around, but that didn't matter when it wouldn't even start.  So of course a call to Dad to diagnose the problem and then we went in search of jumper leads.  Double Dans didn't have any but we found a man that was taking down the fences around the XC and he came and jump started us and off we went.

We are aiming to get to Hay tonight or possibly go on a bit further, we'll see how we feel.  I would like to thank my groom for the week, Mat as well as Elena for helping out. And of course big thanks to my coach Nat Blundell who got me through the week and Sam Lyle and Brett Parbery for their help as well.  Instead of having a week or two off like many of the riders will be after Adelaide I am heading to the Victorian Dressage Festival  in a weeks time with two other horses.  Northern Xanthus III in the Grand Prix and Mr Jackson in Medium and Advanced.  After being on the road for two weeks now to compete at Equitana and Adelaide I am really looking forward to getting home.  But with the weather forecast predicting high 30s and 40 degrees for Cowra next week I think I will be looking forward to going to wet and cold Werribee!

Cheers. Megan Bryant
