Aussie drivers in action at PSG Lähden

The CAI3* Four In Hand event at Lähdener Pferdetage (PSG Lähden) saw three Aussies in action: Boyd Exell, Tor Van Den Berge and Elizabeth Lawrence.

Boyd led after the dressage phase on a super score of 30.06, with Tor in sixth on 44.92 and Elizabeth in 24th on 80.01.

Unfortunately the Marathon phase didn’t go according to plan for Boyd, however he managed to finish in seventh place on 125.47 despite the hiccup. Tor finished 15th on 133.41 and Elizabeth was 24th on 369.93.

The overall combined standings after the Marathon saw Boyd in third, Tor in 13th and Elizabeth in 24th, with the Cones phase still to come.

On Sunday, Boyd finished fourth with 0 penalties and a time of 174.86 in the Cones. Elizabeth finished 23rd, however unfortunately Tor was eliminated.

Boyd’s clear round in the Cones was enough to see him secure first place overall by the narrowest of margins; his total penalty score of 155.53 meant he just pipped Germany’s Christoph Sandmann on 155.54. Talk about close!

“Thrilled to have won PSG Lahden,” reads the latest announcement from Boyd’s team.

“The boys did an amazing job in the dressage 30.06, so close to breaking 30 in this test. Marathon didn’t go totally to plan with a leg over a trace in hazard one, costing an extra 45 seconds and meaning they had to dig deep to stay in the hunt.

“A super consistent cones clear inside the time saw Boyd move from 3rd overall to the top spot. Delighted with the whole performance of 2 & 4 legged team members.”

Congratulations Boyd!
