The FEI World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses has wrapped up in Ermelo (the Netherlands) over the weekend, and as always there were some very talented young horses in action.

Australian riders Simone Pearce and Rebecca Rooke — who competed at the 2017 event — competed and achieved some fantastic results.

Full results can be found here.

5-year-old horses

In the Qualifier for 5-year-old horses, it was Andreas Helgstrand who came out on top with the big bay stallion Revolution. The pair scored 9.06 for the win. Helgstrand Dressage purchased Revolution in 2015 for 1.2 million euros.

Simone Pearce and Lindballe’s Just Perfect finished in 16th place on 8.30. The pair came out in the Small Final and improved their scored with a big 8.84 for third place, and also contested the Final — scoring 7.91 for 14th place.

Andreas and Revolution were clear winners in the Final, scoring 9.62 to beat Germany’s Matthias Alexander Rath and Destacado on 9.48.

6-year-old horses

In the Qualifier for 6-year-old horses, it was the chestnut stallion Villeneuve — ridden by Laura Strobel of Germany — who finished in first place, with a score of 8.86. Rebecca Rooke and Muschamp Royal Black scored 7.18 for 30th place in a field that included big-named riders such as Severo Jurado Lopez, Dorothee Schneider, Andreas Helgstrand and Adelinde Cornelissen; the pair also made an appearance at last year’s event.

Casablanca (one of Simone Pearce’s rides at last year’s event) is now ridden by Poland’s Mateusz Cichon and finished in 23rd place on a score of 7.46; the pair finished 11th in the Small Final, which was won by Sweden’s Pernilla Andre Hokfelt and Total Hope on 8.34. Rebecce Rooke and Muschamp Royal Black finished 18th in the Small Final on 7.16.

Severo Jurado Lopez and d’Avie were the winners in the Final round with a score of 9.26, while Villeneuve and Laura Strobel had to settle for second on 9.24.

7-year-old horses

In the Qualifier for 7-year-old horses, it was Fuersten-Look ridden by Isabel Freese who impressed the judges to score a huge 86.600%. Simone Pearce and Nexolia Feodoro finished a very credible 15th in a big field of more than 40 horses with a score of 74.245%. The pair competed last year in the 6-year-old classes with much success; the horse has now changed owners, and is owned by Nexolia Dressage.

The Small Final went to Valparaiso 2 and Wolfgang Himsl on 79.363%, with Simone and Feodoro scoring 77.286% for third place.

The Final was won by Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry and the black stallion Glamourdale on 87.050%. Second went to Adelinde Cornelissen and Governor-Str on 84.143%, while Fuersten-Look and Isabel Freese were third on 84.036%. Simone and Feodoro also contested the Final, scoring 71.800% for 14th place.
