Australian eventers Sammi Birch and Catherine Burrell have achieved impressive results at the Barroca d’Alva CCI4*-S event in Portugal.

Riding her long term partner riding Hunter Valley II (by Wirragulla Hamlet), Sammi finished in third place on a score of 35.6 penalties, adding only time penalties to her second placed dressage score of 30.4 penalties. With her second horse, the 10 year old KWPN gelding Finduss Pfb, Sammi finished 5th on a score of 39.1 penalties.   

Fellow Australian Catherine Burrell rode her 12 year old KWPN gelding Duke into 10th place in the class, adding just a rail and time penalties to her dressage score and finishing the event on a score of 54.5 penalties. 

Ireland’s Cathal Daniels won the class riding Barrichello on a score of 29.7 penalties, while Great Britain’s Ben Hobday finished 2nd with Shadow Man on 31.5 penalties.
