Australian radio team to broadcast live from WEG

Sit Tight Radio

Sit Tight Radio.

For Eventing fans in Australia it doesn’t get any more exciting than following our best Australian riders competing at the FEI World Equestrian Games, and this September for the first time ever, a local Australian radio show will deliver all the action live from the event in Tryon, USA.

Equestrian Sports commentary service ‘Sit Tight Radio’ has been granted the rights to join select accredited media from 52 countries covering the Eventing from September 12 to 16. Sit Tight Radio founder Fiona Hughes says it will add a whole new dimension to the event for Australians, “the commentary from Tryon will be uniquely Aussie, information, results and all the action as it happens but with a big side serve of the kind of colour, entertainment, and (not always politically correct) observations that Sit Tight has become known for. Not to mention all the goings on from behind the scenes.”

Sit Tight Radio is delivered to listeners via an app available for download and the WEG Eventing broadcast will include pre-event shows as well as commentary on each day of the competition, covering the dressage, show jumping and cross country. Fiona will be joined by co-hosts Lindsey Constable and former Australian Eventing High Performance Director Prue Barrett. All three have competed at the international level, coached extensively and bring many decades of experience in the world of top level Eventing to their radio shows

Australia’s success on the global Eventing stage has earned our elite riders the reputation of being among the best competitors in the world, but with our last WEG Eventing medal coming at Aachen in 2006, Australia’s team at Tryon has a point to prove and with Olympic gold medallist Stuart Tinney as Chef d’Equipe, have their sights firmly set on a podium finish.

The Sit Tight Radio broadcast will be live from Tryon thanks to financial sponsorship from Australian family owned saddlery Kelvin Grove Equestrian, owners Mario and Anne Kuna says they were pleased to be able to support the event. “This is a great opportunity, not only for Sit Tight Radio but also the thousands of Eventing fans here at home who can listen to expert commentary from three experienced Australian Eventers who’ll be watching and updating us on our team every step of the way. Kelvin Grove is proud to have been able to help make this possible”

From walking the course themselves to interviews with officials and competitors including our aussie team members and support crews, Fiona says Sit Tight Radio will have unrivalled access, delivering live and first hand to listeners all the action and the atmosphere of this phenomenal event. For listeners not keen on sacrificing sleep, the shows are available on replay. “We’re so excited to be able to offer our own Australian commentary of the WEG Eventing and are thrilled that Equestrian Australia is on board supporting us, we hope Eventers and fans of the sport will do the same, download the app and come along for the ride.”
