The Akhal-Teke is known for its distinct metallic coat.



Valued for its speed, endurance and intelligence, the breed has adapted to severe climatic conditions and is thought to be one of the oldest domestic breeds in the world. There are currently about 6,600 Akhal-Tekes around the world, mostly in Turkmenistan and Russia, although they are also found throughout Europe and North America.
