CHI Al Shaqab, a prestigious international event in Doha, saw many of the world’s top showjumpers, dressage and para dressage competitors compete over three exciting days of competition.

In the dressage, it was Minna Telde and Isac who won the CDI5* Grand Prix, scoring 71.543%. The Special saw just three horses compete, with Henri Ruoste and Rossetti taking first place for Finland with 71.915%. Finally, the CDI5* Freestyle went to Spain’s Borja Carrascosa and Ein Traum 2 with a great score of 75.375%.

The showjumping saw a number of CSI5* events, with winners including Jos Verlooy and Caracas, Julien Epaillard and Virtuose Champeix, Steve Guerdat and Hannah, Ludger Beerbaum and Chiara 222, and Pius Schwizer and Living the Dream. The Grand Prix, which concluded the event, saw Pieter Devos and Espoir win in a jump off from Nicola Philippaerts and H&M Chilli Willi, and Emanuele Gaudiano on Chalou. Aussie combination Edwina Tops-Alexander and California jumped clear in the first round, but unfortunately had two rails down in the second round — meaning they didn’t qualify for the jump off. They finished 12th in a strong field of 43.

In the para dressage classes, there were some impressive Freestyle scores. The winners were Katja Karjalainen and Dr Doolittle in the Grade I (74.940%); Nicole den Dulk and Wallace N.O.P. in the Grade II (73.500%); Roberta Sheffield and Fairuza in the Grade III (70.167%); Rodolpho Riskalla and Don Henrico in the Grade IV (76.125%); and Frank Hosmar on Guetta in the Grade V (76.250%).
