Just hours before the individual medal decider at Tokyo, the USA’s Adrienne Lyle has been forced to retire from tonight’s Grand Prix Freestyle.

Lyle withdrew her ride Salvino before the 2nd Horse Inspections held in Tokyo this morning saying the stallion “did not feel quite like his usual self”.

It’s a devastating blow for the American rider as she was part of the Silver medal winning team in last night’s Team medal Grand Prix Special, placing her in prime position for another crack at the podium tonight as an individual.

In her place, Canadian rider Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu will take to the saddle and lead the field with All In in tonight’s Freestyle with only short notice.
