Champion mare Black Caviar gives birth to first foal, a filly by Exceed and Excel

CHAMPION racehorse Black Caviar has become a mum.

The winner of 25 consecutive races has given foal to a filly by super sire Exceed And Excel at her stables in the Hunter Valley.

Both are reported to be in excellent condition.

The invaluable filly will not be sold.

Part-owner Pam Hawkes recently echoed the sentiment of the clan when she said: “It would be like selling one of your children”.

The blue blood is expected to be trained eventually by Peter Moody, who guided Black Caviar to the title of the world’s best sprinter.

A tweet from Moody’s Twitter account announced the news at 4.17am.

“That is a great way to start the day,” he told News Corp Australia from Sydney, where he has Group 1 runners.

Black Caviar was undefeated in 25 races throughout her career, including 15 Group 1 wins, and had victories across Australia and in England.

She was retired in April last year after winning the TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick.

Her brother, All Too Hard, has also proved a champion on the track.
