On the final day of competition (Sunday), there was a dramatic twist. Lara Butler and the Bechtolsheimer’s 15-year-old Rubin Royal gelding, Rubin Al Asad, had won the LeMieux Grand Prix Gold Championship on the Saturday, while Carl Hester and Alcazar reigned supreme in the Horse Health Grand Prix Freestyle Gold Championship on the Sunday. Second in both classes were Hayley Watson-Greaves and WG Rubins Nite — and it was this combination that took out the overall National Championship title in a surprise result!
