One of the largest equestrian facilities in North America, Desert International Horse Park hosts multiple weeks of world-class equestrian competition from October through March. For a number of months, it becomes a destination location for thousands of equestrians, their horses, family and friends for several months annually.

Ove the past weekend, Desert International Horse Park ran yet another CDI-W. American rider Charlotte Jorst topped the competition in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W, presented by Buffini and Company. With her trusted mount Kastel’s Nintendo, Jorst secured the top spot with a personal best score of 76.530%. Kastel’s Nintendo is a seventeen year old Dutch Warmblood stallion by Negro out of Monaco.

“It was incredible. Last week was the first time performing it so I was looking forward to doing it again and know a little more about it,” mentioned Jorst. “I changed the music a little bit which made me really nervous. It just felt incredible and it was a fantastic note to finish on.”

Jorst and Kastel’s Nintendo also won the Grand Prix CDI-W with a score of 72.261%, and have had an amazing two weeks at the Desert International Horse Park, earning top scores and placings across their classes the previous weekend as well.

“It has felt so great competing these two weeks,” explained Jorst. “I have loved everything about it. The venue, the people, the co-competitors, even the food was terrific. I look forward to going home and getting even better and then off to Florida where I hope to continue to improve on those scores.”

Carly Taylor-Smith (USA) and Rosalut NHF (Rosenthal x Salut) were presented the second place ribbon for their efforts after earning a 75.360% score from the judges. The ten year old Oldenburg gelding is owned by Nikki Taylor-Smith. Finishing off the podium with a score of 68.500% was Dawn White-O’Connor (USA) aboard Bailarino (Breitling W x De Niro 6) a twelve year old Oldenburg gelding owned by Four Winds Farm.

In the Grand Prix CDI3*, it was Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper who topped the leaderboard with an impressive 77.348%. The pair also won the CDI3* Special on 77.340%. Some great scores!
