New Zealander Clarke Johnstone and his lovely grey Balmoral Sensation lead the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International Three-Day Event CCI4* after the first day, scoring 45.90 in the dressage phase. 

The pair lead from West Australian Sonja Johnson and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison on 49.50, while Megan Jones and Kirby Park Impress are a close third on 49.60. Katie Taliana and Trevalgar II are currently in fourth place on 50.80.

Last year’s winner Hazel Shannon and WillingaPark Clifford are sitting mid-field on a good score of 54.50.

In the CIC3*, Christine Bates and Adelaide Hill lead on 42.20, ahead of Deon Stokes - who sits in second and third with Crime Time (48.60) and Koyuna Levi (51.70) respectively. 

The cross country phase takes place tomorrow.
