David Cameron and Finch Farm Spruce win YRC Show Series Grand Prix

David Cameron and Finch Farm Spruce win YRC Show Series Grand Prix

By Equestrian Life

David Cameron and Finch Farm Spruce have won the Grand Prix (1.40-1.45m) class over the weekend at the YRC Show Series event in Richmond, NSW.

The pair recorded a narrow win over Amber Fuller and CP Aretino, with just 0.02 seconds separating them in the nine-horse jump off. An eight-year-old warmblood gelding, Finch Farm Spruce was formerly ridden to 2* level by eventer Shane Rose.

It was an all-star field in the Grand Prix, with the top five placings as follows:

1st - David Cameron and ‘Finch Farm Spruce’
2nd - Amber Fuller and ‘CP Aretino’
3rd - Aaron Hadlow and ‘Vahlinvader’
4th - Amanda Madigan and ‘Diamond B Vivienne’
5th - David Cameron and ‘Finch Farm Clifford’

The YRC Show Series was created as a result of Covid-19 limitations on travel and events with the aim being to provide riders with a chance to continue competing. The series has been organised by a small committee across three well known jumping stables: Yandoo Park, Redleaf Lodge and Chatham Park.

The three stables involved house many of the nation’s top competitors. Yandoo Park is the home of Jamie Kermond and Jamie Winning, with James Paterson-Robinson and Sarah Duggan also training there; Redleaf Lodge is home to David and Tallara Cameron; and Chatham Park is run by George Sanna and is home to Amber Fuller, Kate Hinschen and Amelia Douglass (currently overseas).

The YRC Show Series has run a couple of smaller events to date, however last weekend’s competition certainly took it up a notch! Held at The Sydney Polo Club in Richmond, just outside of Sydney, it attracted around 100 horses.
