Like many young riders who dream of representing their country at the highest level, dressage rider Shania Madden trusted her education and welfare to a well-respected mentor – only to have him break that trust.

Once revered as a stockman, judge, and coach, 68-year-old Paul Anthony Wardell was recently sentenced to 14 years in jail for the sexual assault of Shania Madden and, another young equestrian, Ashley Whiting.

Wardell was found guilty of 23 charges in September relating to both young women who spoke out against the stockman after years of abuse. He has been given a non-parole period of nine years behind bars.

Join Roger Fitzhardinge this Thursday evening for an in-depth interview with Shania, as she shares her story in the hope of raising awareness and in turn helping others.

The interview will be live-streamed via Equestrian Life’s Facebook and Live TV Page from 7:30 pm AEDT.
