With the Rio Paralympic Games about to begin, Australia’s Emma Booth is now counting down the days until competition starts.
She and her horse Zidane worked hard during their time spent at the staging camp in the Netherlands, and have now arrived in Rio ahead of the games.
Emma is very happy with her horse Zidane and their pre-Rio training to date. The training camp, set against a backdrop of rolling green fields, was a beautiful place to develop focus prior to Rio.

The first week of staging camp involved gentle exercise to aid recovery; however, the arrival of her coach Lone Joergensen meant it wasn’t long before serious work began.
As is often the case, Lone had a sit on Zidane to get a feel for where he is at - this was Lone’s first ride back since her hip replacement, so it’s great to hear she is recovering well!

Last Friday, the Para-Equestrian team left the Netherlands for Rio. Zidane travelled well and has settled in to Deodoro without issue.
Rozzie Ryan, who is on the ground in Rio as a trainer, felt the facilities were great and the surfaces in the warm up areas were also good. Groom Shahira Ameen, and Emma's mum Raelene are already in Rio, with the rest of Family Booth on their way.
The Rio Paralympic Games kicks off today (7th of September), with Emma and Zidane’s first test scheduled for the 13th of September - leaving them with plenty of time to settle in.
