The EA Para-Dressage Video Competition was created to assist in making Para-dressage competition more accessible for Australian riders and to provide an opportunity for combinations to compete under competition conditions but from the comfort of their home environment on a familiar horse.

The competition will be open to all Australian Para-athletes, regardless of their geographical location, and will offer tests from grassroots level through to international FEI level.

All riders with physical impairments are welcome to take part in the EA Para-Dressage Video Competition, and classes will be offered for both EA/FEI classified riders and unclassified riders. Classified riders are also welcome to compete in a lower grade than their official classification if they are currently not feeling confident or ready to compete at their assigned Grade.

Accredited Para-Equestrian Judges will judge all videos submitted by riders, and the links to the video competition will also be made available for future judge education purposes, and possible talent spotting by the EA Para-Dressage National Selectors and EA High Performance Management.

All money raised from the competition entries will be put back into the Australian Para-Dressage Program and used to support future projects and initiatives.

EA High Performance Pathways Coordinator and Para-Equestrian Riders’ Representative, Sharon Jarvis, said “It is a great platform for riders starting out to do their first Para tests, something we saw when the EA Para-Equestrian Video Competition was first held in 2019.

It also allows more experienced competitors to gain valuable feedback from judges and to be able to build on their experience and knowledge leading into Tokyo and then WEG 2022.”

Scores from the EA Para-Dressage Video Competition cannot be used for Tokyo 2020 or World Equestrian Games 2022 qualification purposes.

The competitions will run bi-monthly commencing in March. Entries for the March competition close Sunday 28th February.

Rules for the EA Para-Dressage Video Competition can be found here.
