The Equestrian Victoria (EV) board met on Thursday 18 May for a strategic planning session to determine the potential future direction for the organisation.

The board is mindful of EV’s role as the peak body of equestrian sports in Victoria, and is keen to engage with the broader equestrian community to see how EV can better service the industry.

Agreement was reached on the following strategic initiatives:

    1.    The board will review the board structure and explore alternatives to better represent the broader equestrian community.
    2.    The board will work towards establishing a new independent body to govern, manage and run Werribee Park National

Equestrian Centre. The aim would be to have the new organisation run the centre to support itself financially and pursue funding opportunities to improve and develop this important state sporting asset for the benefit and use of all equestrian sports.

EV CEO Fiona Baxter will actively engage with EV members and other equestrian sporting organisations over the coming weeks to gather input on a possible new board structure and how EV can most effectively represent and support all equestrian sports in Victoria going forward.

The results of the facility planning membership survey conducted earlier in the year support these initiatives. A summary of the findings of this survey will be made available in the near future.
