If you have ever been confused by the different types of eventing competitions, you’re not alone - it’s easy to get mixed up when the acronyms are all so similar!

CCI

“Concours Complet International”

These events are international three day events (long form) that are held under FEI rules.

CCI events are classed as either 1*, 2*, 3* or 4* depending on the level.

CIC

“Concours International Combiné”

This event may be held over one day (short form), and is thus considered an international one day event. It must follow FEI rules.

CIC events are classed as either 1*, 2* or 3*.

CCN

CCN is a national three day event. They must be held under FEI rules for three day events (but not FEI General Rules or Veterinary Regulations).

CNC

CNC is a national one day event.

CCIO

Official international three day event, for team competitions internationally, such as the Olympic Games, the World Equestrian Games, the Pan-American Games, Nations Cup and the European Championships.

J/YR

Divisions for young riders (21 or younger) and juniors (18 or younger).
