German Olympic eventer Michael Jung has announced the retirement of the superstar German Sport Horse mare, FischerRocana Fst from competition.

The combination dominated the competition circuit for years, winning team gold at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games and winning the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event three times.

The now 16-year-old mare, owned by Joachim and Brigitte Jung, leaves behind a formidable legacy, winning nine FEI events including the 2011 FEI World Eventing Championships for Young Horses.

In a public statement on his Facebook page, Michael Jung said ‘Rocana’ would now enter the next phase of her career as a first-class broodmare to produce more international champions.

“Fischerrocana is supposed to be a mom,” wrote Michael Jung.

“Last year due to Covid she only went a few small tournaments hoping it can start again this year.”

“She enjoyed a great winter break with Sam in the paddock and when we realized it wouldn't be much different this year with the big classics, I decided to take her out of the sport - Because what else can she prove?”

“I think my little fighter has shown more than enough what she can do and only for something 3 * or 4 * she doesn't have to stay up to speed.”

“I'm very excited about her offspring and seeing her every day with Sam in the meadow.”

Rocana will stay at Jung’s stable in Horb-Altheim, Germany while she begins the next chapter of her life.
