Saudi Equestrian has announced the retirement of Olympic Games bronze medal winner HRH Prince Abdullah Bin Miteb from international competition and the Saudi Equestrian team.

Prince Abdullah, a grandson of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has represented his country on numerous occasions. As well as being part of the bronze medal-winning team at the London Olympic Games in 2012, Prince Abdullah won individual and team gold at the 2011 Pan Arab Games (Qatar) and was also part of the gold medal-winning Saudi show jumping team at the Asian Games in 2006 and 2010.

Ziyad Abduljawad, managing director of Saudi Equestrian said, “HRH Prince Abdullah has been a highly valued member of the Saudi Equestrian team and a great ambassador for the sport in Saudi Arabia for many years. His enthusiasm and superb riding skills will be greatly missed by the teammates who he has competed alongside since he was a teenager, as well as the many friends he has made within the equestrian community over the years.”

Prince Abdullah will continue to be involved in elite equestrian sport as patron of the three-week King Abdullah Show Jumping Festival, the highlight of which is a CSI-W***** competition, staged at NOFA Equestrian Resort near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, each year.
