Impressive scores recorded as competition returns to Boneo Park

By Equestrian Life

Boneo Park’s November Dressage event saw competition return to the Mornington Peninsula venue for the first time since the Victorian Covid-19 lockdown put events on hold throughout metropolitan Melbourne.

The event catered to everyone from Preliminary through to Grand Prix, and there were some impressive scores recorded as Victorian competitors put their ‘lockdown training’ to the test.

With the event running over two days, many of the levels had the option to ride two tests each day (repeating the B tests). The Grand Prix combinations also had the option to ride the test both days.

Lone Jörgensen and Corinna, the talented mare owned by Pauline Carnovale, scored 72.348% to win on the first day, and then backed it up on day two with an improved winning score of 75.707%. Record scores at national classes (CDN) around the country can be tricky to track and compare, however Lone’s score is no doubt one of the highest recorded on Australian soil; dressage enthusiasts will be watching with interest when this combination makes a return to international (CDI) competition. The highlights of the test, as they were often for Corinna in competition last year, were the extended trot movements, with the judges awarding 8.5s and 9.0s. Pauline Carnovale finished second on both days with Captain Cooks, recording a great score of 72.827% on the Sunday.

The biggest score recorded at the event went to Sonic K in the Elementary 3C (pictured) with 80.122%, ridden by Karen Blythe. The pair also scored well over 70% in their other three tests across the weekend.

Congratulations to all who competed!
