Katie Laurie and Dunstan Kiwi Iron Mark are on a roll, with another win in Canada, this time taking out the $25,000 1.4m grand prix on the last day of the Bow Classic III at Rocky Mountain Show Jumping.

The combinations were one of 18 to start the class, with just four coming through to the jump-off. Laurie and Mark (owned by June Berrington) were last to go and two seconds faster than the opposition.

“Mark is just so fresh! In the jump-off we were meant to be taking a bit of an S bend to the next jump, but he was bucking! He is feeling great and loving it.”

Frangipanne de Toxandria (owned by Jill Morrison) took the second to last fence in the opening round to finish in sixth place. “That was my fault really – I chased here when I should have trusted her. I am very happy with how she is jumping.”

Laurie says the horses are in great form, and she says having them in North America since January has made a big difference to both of them.

Today’s grand prix was scheduled to go yesterday, but moved because of torrential rain.

“It was sunny and nice today,” said Laurie. “It was a bit wet underfoot, but good where the jumps were. I do love it here – there are such god facilities, the rings are nice for every level and the jumps lovely. It is a great place to compete.”
