Michael Jung has withdrawn from this year's games due to his ride suffering an injury.

The stunning 13-year-old mare, FischerRocana FST, has suffered an injury to her near-fore fetlock during training. The injury is minor according to the vet, however it will still need time to heal and with WEG being so soon there unfortunately isn’t enough time.

Jung has been on the the German eventing team every year since 2009, and has won an individual medal at every championship.

The reserve rider for the German eventing squad is Sandra Auffarth, riding her nine-year-old chestnut stallion, Viamant Du Matz. Auffarth and Viamant Du Matz are likely to be chosen to replace Jung and FischerRocana FST.
