NZ horse exports set to resume

Three horses in a paddock.

IRT's NZ branch have today announced that NZ horse exports will resume early next month. The annoucement is a huge relief for the NZ equine industry, which was reeling from a possible 3-year export ban to Australia following a positive piroplasmosis test in a thoroughbred mare.

New Zealand equine exports are resuming soon!

After successful negotiations between New Zealand and Australian authorities, New Zealand equine exports are set to resume early next month.

Horse flights from New Zealand were temporarily suspended due to a positive case of equine piroplasmosis being discovered in a horse set for export.

We have been working diligently with the authorities to quickly resume flights which means horses will now be exported under new certification conditions. Future shipments will see a slightly longer lead in time due to the additional testing requirements for piroplasmosis.

We are pleased to resume our NZ flights and offer you our world-class airfreight service again soon!
