The filly of wonder mare Paulank Brockagh has finally been named in honour of her dam’s old rider Sam Griffiths and her current owners.

The Olympic champion mare, Paulank Brockagh, previously ridden by Australian Eventer Sam Griffiths welcomed her first foal almost two months.

The Irish Sport Horse mare gave birth to the filly in the early hours of Wednesday 19 May in the same stable where she was born 18 years earlier.

The little filly’s sire is the Thoroughbred stallion, Centennial, from Coolin stud in the west of Ireland.

For seven years, Sam Griffith and Brocks shared a highly successful partnership that delivered an individual fourth place and a team bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016.  

Now in happy competition retirement at the home of her breeders, Frank and Paula Cullen, in County Wicklow, Ireland, ‘Brock’ and her baby make the perfect picture of health in the Irish pasture.

Paula Cullen said, “Hopefully if her name is accepted it will be “Paulank Symphony” acknowledging the wonderful 10 years she spent with Sam Griffiths at Symphony farm.”

“Her stable name is “Posy” acknowledging the Posford’s who have owned her for the past 10 years; she is also a ‘poser’!”
