KER Equi-Jewel has been nutritionally supporting equine athletes around the world for more than 20 years.  Horse owners, elite riders and trainers use and recommend KER Equi-Jewel to build muscle, topline, and maintain condition in sales preparation, show and performance horses.    KER Equi-Jewel not only provides palatable, cool and slow-release energy, but also has the added benefit of supporting gut health which is critical to optimal performance for equine athletes.

How is KER Equi-Jewel research proven to support gut health?

KER Equi-Jewel now contains KER BMC™ which is proven to protect gut health by buffering stomach acid, reducing the risk of gastric ulcers as well as moderating hindgut pH to assist in prevention of hindgut acidosis and associated conditions.  Specifically, this research demonstrates a 2 time increase in gastric buffering (figure 1), and increased buffering capacity of the hindgut environment by 54% (figure 2) with KER BMC.  This reduces the risk of gastric acidity and hindgut acidosis in horses on high grain/concentrate diets or when fed prior to work.

In addition to the buffering capacity of KER BMC, KER Equi-Jewel also contains essential omega 6 fatty acids which have been shown to reduce gastric acid secretion and increase output of protective prostaglandins.   For horses suffering from, or those prone to gastric ulcers, omega 6 fatty acids have been shown to be beneficial to reduce gastric acid production.

Recent studies have shown that omeprazole use can reduce calcium digestibility by 20%.  For horses undergoing gastric ulcer treatment with omeprazole, especially young and working horses, calcium is important in maintaining bone density and mineralisation.  KER BMC has been shown to be more highly digestible than other forms of calcium.  The greater digestibility of the calcium in KER BMC combined with its greater solubility at higher pH means that KER BMC is less affected by omeprazole than traditional calcium sources, helping to ensure adequate calcium uptake.

These features make KER Equi-Jewel an important addition to the diet of horses at risk of gastric ulcers and hindgut disturbances.   KER Equi-Jewel is the only conditioning supplement on the market to include KER BMC and is available through your local stock feed supplier.
