Qalao des Mers, French rider Maxime Livio’s successful gelding, tested positive for the banned substance acepromazine immediately following the August 29th Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games earlier this year.

The pair, part of the successful French eventing team, finished 5th individually and helped the team to 4th place overall.

Yesterday French publication Equidia Life reported that Qalao des Mers' second sample had also tested positive for acepromazine, putting the French at risk of losing their team placing as well as qualification status for the 2016 Olympic Games.

France and Livio’s standing remain pending whilst awaiting a Fédération Equestre Internationale Tribunal hearing, with the team possibly having to re-qualify for the Olympics at next year’s FEI European Eventing Championships.
