While international competitions are on hold for Australia’s home based elite riders, some overseas based Australians including Rowan Willis are enjoying a return to FEI level events. Despite Rowan’s top mare Blue Movie being absent at this week’s Traverse City CSI4* show, his impressive winning streak continued. Riding his own Cartouche III, Rowan won the $36,600 Staller Welcome Stake CSI4* from a field of 89 competitors representing 11 nations!

It was Rowan’s first visit to Traverse City, Michigan. In addition to winning the Welcome Stake with Cartouche III, a gelding he purchased from Scotland last year, the pair placed 6th from 63 in the American Gold Cup speed class. Rowan also rode the mare Ekita Eindeken Z in the American Gold Cup class, and despite finishing out of the placings he was delighted with the performance of this rising star, who was competing in her first CSI4*. Rowan also rode Wellington Grandorie in the 1.45m classes.

The future looks bright for Rowan Willis and his team of talented jumpers, who will next compete on the Split Rock Jumping Tour. We look forward to following their progress!
