SIEC hosts Australia's first 2021 FEI Eventing competiton

The Randwick Equine Centre Sydney Eventing Summer Classic, held from 20 -21 February, was the first Australian event of 2021 to host FEI level classes.  Held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC), the event ran both CCI3*-S and CCI2*-S in addition to a host of national level classes ranging from EV60 through to CCN4*-S.

Sam Lyle won the CCN4*-S class riding BF Valour; placing 5th after the dressage phase, the experience pair added just time penalties to their dressage score to finish 3.4 penalties ahead of second placed Emma Mason and Warrego Marco Polo. Heath Ryan finished in third place riding Bronze Boy R, Rachael Lee fourth with Chicobello, and Tara Rogers rounded out the top 5 with Denison Park Smooth.

Katie Taliana rode her upcoming star Revelwood Wynston Street to victory in the Randwick Equine Centre CCI3*-S classes, leading from start to finish. Adding no penalties to their commanding dressage score of 30.70 penalties, the pair were clear leaders over second placed Carlene Barton riding APH Henrik on 36.30. Gemma Tinney placed third and fifth with Be My Daisy and Dalenna Daydream respectively, while Junior Rider Charlie Richardson showed he is a force for the future, placing fourth with Bellbirds Sandpiper.

The ever-consistent combination of Andrew Barnett and Go Tosca won the Horseland CCN3*-S class on an impressive score of 26.0 penalties, ahead of Hayley Frielick and Dunedin Black Watch. Olivia Barton placed third with APH Witchcraft ahead of Lauren Browne riding Skys Da Limit and Sam Lyle riding Our Congrats.

The Randwick Equine Centre CCI2*-S competition was won by Madison Simpson riding Flying Star on a score of 49.20 ahead of Emma Mason riding KPH Kingfisher, while Emma Bishop won the large Beecroft Physiotherapy CCN2*-S class riding Cassilis Park Figaro, on just 28.20 penalties.
