Sandro Hit tops the WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings

By Equestrian Life

The late Sandro Hit has topped the 2021 WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings, moving up from third place the previous year.

The rankings take into account FEI results and rankings points of progeny competing from the start of October 2020 through to the end of September 2021.

Sandro Hit, who passed away earlier this year, was bred by Reinhold Harder and owned by Paul Schockemöhle. The stallion has been in the top three of the WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings since 2016, but this is the first year he has ranked at the top.

This year Sandro Hit had five direct offspring competing at the Olympics: Showtime (Dorothee Schneider), Salvino (Adrienne Lyle), Scolari (Shingo Hayashi), Sebastien (Lindsay Kellogg) and Sir Donnerhall II (Morgan Barbançon). He also had three grandsons/great grandsons competing: Suppenkasper (by Spielberg, ridden by Steffen Peters), Sanceo (by San Remo, ridden by Sabine Schut-Kery) and Samhitas (by Sir Donnerhall I, ridden by Australian Kelly Layne.)

Second place on the WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings list went to Johnson, whose offspring include’s Mary Hanna’s Olympic mare Calanta, followed by Jazz - whose offpring include Carl Hester’s En Vogue.

Many of Sandro Hit’s offpring are now successful stallions themselves and also made the top 100 list - including Sir Donnerhall I, Spielberg, San Remo and San Amour I.
