Simone Pearce and Rose Oatley win on first day of Mariakalnok CDI

Simone Pearce is off to an impressive start at the Mariakalnok CDI in Hungary, winning the CDI3* Prix St Georges with Montevideo 65. The pair scored 71.569% and were first with two of the three judges.

"Super Montevideo (8yo by millennium) won his international debut today with 71.56% in the Prix St Georges here at Mariakalnok CDI-W in Hungary. Thank you so much to Rueben Equestrian for letting me ride this amazing horse," said Simone via her Facebook page.

German dressage great Ulla Salzgeber made a return to the competition arena in the same class, finishing third with Liberte on 68.382%.

Montevideo, an 8-year-old black gelding by Millennium, will contest the Inter I tonight, and is one of two rides for Simone, who is also saddling up Destano in the CDI3* Grand Prix - we wish her the best of luck!

Rose Oatley won the CDI-P Team Test with the lovely palomino Daddy Moon on a huge score of 77.114% - scoring as high as 81% with one judge and placing first with four of the five judges. Rose, who rides under the German flag, is the daughter of Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley.

The CDI-P Individual Test takes place on Saturday - Good luck Rose!

Mariakalnok CDI is the first international dressage competition since the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe. Competition concludes on Sunday, and results and draws can be found here.
