Sönke Rothenberger and Cosmo sweep German Dressage Championships

Sönke Rothenberger and Cosmo pulled off a clean sweep of the German Dressage Championships over the weekend, with the pair beating Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD in the Grand Prix and the Special for the first time.

Sönke and Cosmo scored 82.820% in the Grand Prix, with Isabell scoring 82.720%. In the Special, the combination scored 83.706% while Isabell and Weihegold scored 82.804%.

Sönke and Cosmo then won the Freestyle for a clean sweep of the championships with a huge score of 88.425%. Second place went to Dorothee Schneider and Sammy David Jr on 82.975%. Isabell didn’t contest the Freestyle.

Key combinations missing from the Championships, due to horse injury, were Isabell Werth and Emilio, Dorothee Schneider and Showtime FRH, and Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Desperados FRH.

Nations cup team named

The Nations Cup team for CHIO Aachen in July was named following the German championships and will consist of Sönke Rothenberger and Cosmo, Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB, and Dorothee Schneider and Sammy David Jr.
