Simone Pearce has enjoyed further success at Schloss Achleiten CDI4* in Austria, posting another Australian record score - this time in the Grand Prix Special. Simone and Destano scored 74.617% to finish in third place, behind Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD (80.915%) and Victoria Max-Theurer on Abegglen FH NRW (77.596%).

The previous record CDI score for an Australian in the Special was held by Kristy Oatley and Du Soleil. The pair achieved 74.605% on their way to finishing 12th in the world at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon.

On Friday, Simone finished third in the Grand Prix CDI4* aboard Destano; their pair achieved a new record score for an Australian combination in that test as well. They were awarded 74.152%.

Simone rides and trains at Gestüt Sprehe - the stud that owns the famous Desperados. The stud owns Destano, however Simone is listed with the FEI as a part owner, meaning the horse is eligible to compete for Australia at the Tokyo Olympic Games should they qualify and get selected.

Simone also rode a terrific test in the Intermediate I today with Montevideo 65, winning with a score of 75.735%. The pair continued their winning form from yesterday’s Prix St Georges test, where they scored 74.676% and pinned Isabell Werth and Superb 2 into second place.

“Amazing Montevideo does it again, today winning the Inter I with 75.76% here at CDI Achleiten. I love this horse so much! Biggest thanks to his owner, Sabine Rüben, for trusting me with your star,” said Simone via her Facebook page.

In the five-year-old class aboard Diamond First, Simone won Friday’s Preliminary test on 8.44 and Saturday’s Final test on 8.94.

On Saturday, Simone also rode Almandori to third place on 71.235% in the Intermediate II - however it could have been much higher!

“Amandori gave me an absolutely awesome feeling in his international debut today. This morning I rode three tests in the space of two hours and it proved a bit too much for my blonde brain to handle and I went to the wrong letter in the walk program so we directly lost 2%. So we went from first with 73.3% to third with 71.3%… but other than a small miscommunication in the second piaffe, the test was feeling so great and he stayed the most with me he’s ever been! I know there is so much to come for this special guy in the future,” said Simone.

Congratulations to Simone on an amazing show at Schloss Achleiten CDI!
