The Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Finals will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden between the 23rd and 28th of March 2016, and for the first time, competition organisers will be offering horse and rider combinations from Australia, the US, Canada, and the Pacific financial reimbursement for their travel costs.

The FEI have approved of the event organiser’s plans to remunerate owners and riders for their trip to Europe. Riders from the US and Canada are expected to receive up to $20,000AUD to cover horse transport costs and $2,000 for rider travel costs, whereas riders from the Asia Pacific region and South America can expect reimbursement of approximately $27,000 and $2,500 per horse and athlete respectively.

From the 18 countries invited to participate in the Final, 2 places are allocated to North America and 1 place is reserved for the Asia Pacific region with the rest being made up of European nations. Mary Hanna of Australia was the winner of the Pacific League Final and as such will be allocated the placing for the World Cup Final. The riders for North America are yet to be decided, and will be announced following the conclusion of the qualifying events in California and Florida in March.

The event organisers will also cover expenses for horse and rider accommodation in Sweden, and offering huge $380,000AUD total prize money to be distributed between the winners of the competition.

We wish Mary Hanna the best of luck in this competition and know she will make a wonderful representative of Australian dressage.
