Team Joyce

Team Joyce are off to the Australian Showjumping Championships held at Werribee Park next week. We leave on Tuesday morning to help with the setup of this massive event. The committee had a working bee last week and started with all the fencing, painting and delivery of odds and sods. There are a large group of people all working tirelessly trying to create the pinnacle showjumping event of the year. This year we have applied so many extras in many different facets hoping to please not just the riders but also the Sponsors and spectators as well. This event should bring the    “ wow” factor on arrival and departure of a great day out.

Team Joyce are taking  two horses, LH Folly which Tiffany shall ride in the Young Rider classes and Wesley will ride LH King Arthur in the Future Stars and Mini Prix. Wesley has also been asked to ride a horse named Tulara Baloul owned by Gavin and Sharyn Chester in the Emerald series. Tiffany as per usual has to attend university first on Monday and Tuesday but will arrive Wednesday ready to ride for Thursday. Wes and I shall work with the volunteers to set up plants, jumps, archways and signs the list goes on!!

So far you have read how we have been going at the competitions leading up to next week on our web site. If not here they are

Ok so here we are at the last show which is only one week before the big day! Team Joyce drove to The Boneo Park Cup. Again this facility is top class”, the venue offers everything and more! We love going here and our horses do to because you know you are not going to break them down jumping on their surface. We arrived the Friday afternoon and took LH Pugsly, LH King Arthur and LH Folly.

Wes and Tiffany started in the same class which was the last event of the day, 1.30m Open. Tiffany and LH Folly had 2 rails but jumped very well and Wesley and The King’ placed 3rd. Gavin Chester was the course builder and the design was open and inviting hence why many horses jumped well all day in all classes.

On Saturday morning LH Pugsly went in the Open 1.10m and he just tends to jump to big and gets to close in his doubles plucking out the B or C part but another good confidence builder for him being a youngster. We watched Sophie Elphick give LH Adelia a super ride in Ring 2 and placed 4th in the 75cm. LH Warsaw and Natasha Dixon placed 3rd in the Junior and 5th in the Young Rider. Izzy Dafni placed 2nd in the Open 1.04m on Lals Haven Cario. It really does give Team Joyce a massive thrill watching our sold horses at events making their riders happy in all levels of showjumping. Well done to all of you and we look very forward to seeing you all again next week. There will be 8 LH horses competing at the Australian Showjumping Championships.

Tiffany and LH Folly rode in a strong field of 28 Young riders in the afternoon. The jump off was nail biting stuff because they all tried to go pretty quick and clean and many of them did just that. The pair placed a creditable 2nd and yes I cheered and clapped for my little girl as any mother would.

The workers put in at least a solid hour to prepare the surface for the Boneo Cup. This was a 1.40m class and attracted another strong list of good horses and riders. In the end there were 11 competitors and again Wes was asking LH King Arthur whether he was capable of jumping the massive fences. Gavin built a good course with a double of doubles and another double so 3 doubles!

Wes was 7th to go out and Arthur was breathe taking as usual, he tried and wanted to be clean. He had the last straight fence down in the double of doubles and tripped on landing over the second double and then was not back on track to approach the oxer and just had it down as well. So 2 down but went fantastic we were stoked!. They went back for the second round and Arthur spooked where he had tripped in the first round so Wes did a circle and re-approached the oxer and jumped clean but ended up with another 4 faults but again showed huge potential. The winners were the best jumping faultless rounds and looked like they were more than ready for the Australian Title classes next week. Brook on Silvo is definitely one to watch out for next week as his horse is a real special jumper!

So that’s Team Joyce we are more than happy with how our horses have performed over the past month and they are fit and healthy thanks to Barastoc feeds. LH Folly is being fed Competitor and LH King Arthur is on Calm Performer. It is so peaceful knowing they are getting the correct requirements when trying to prepare for such a big event. Keeping your horse happy, healthy and sound is a huge task and yes we are not there yet a lot can happen in a day but so far we are good. I shall let you all know how Team Joyce go after the week of jumping has happened. Give me a few days because we shall stay to pack up all the structures so it may take me a few days to get back on the computer but I will be back with all the gossip!
