The draw is out for the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, and the trailblazer will be 29-year-old American Lauren Kieffer. A Badminton first-timer, Lauren will be first out on the arena with the 11 year old gelding Landmark’s Monte Carlo. Further down the draw she is also set to ride the 15-year-old Dutch bred mare Veronica.

New Zealand’s Mark Todd will be the second rider to go, followed by local Alexander Bragg.

When it comes to the Australian riders, Andrew Hoy will be the first to ride in approximately seventh position aboard The Blue Frontier; his second ride, Rutherglen, is well down the list in 78th position. Chris Burton is next in ninth position riding TS Jamaimo. He will also ride Graf Liberty from around 80th position. Badminton debutant Shane Rose will ride Shanghai Joe in sixteenth position; Paul Tapner will ride Bonza King of Rogues from 57th; and Sam Griffiths will ride Paulank Brockagh from 69th.

Last year’s winners, Michael Jung and La Biosthetique Sam FBW have drawn to ride in around 30th position.

NOTE: The drawn order includes those on the wait list and riders who will need to nominate one of two horses — the positions mentioned above are estimated based on current starters and could change slightly.
