Round one of the Second Individual Competition in the jumping commenced last night (AEST), which doubles as a round of the teams competition. At the conclusion of the second day, the Aussies are still holding on to a top ten position (8th) in the teams component of the event despite a tough course that saw only 5 clear rounds amongst more than 120 competitors.
A top ten finish means we've qualified for the team final!
The Aussie team are on a total score of 28.32. Switzerland's jumping team are the current leaders, with a total team score of 11.64.
Australia's Rowan Willis and the chestnut mare, Blue Movie, are currently in 22nd position, with a total score of 8.31. The pair were third after the first round, but two rails overnight saw them slip down the leaderboard. That being said, they are still very strongly placed out of more than 120 competitors!
Jamie Kermond and Yandoo Oaks Constellation are currently in 24th position, with a total score of 8.53 after adding just one rail and one time fault to their first round score. Billy Raymont and Oaks Redwood are currently in 40th position, with a total score of 11.48; they added two rails to their first round score. In 43rd place is Scott Keach and Fedor; the pair had two rails down to end the day on a total of 12.22 penalties when taking into account their penalties from the first competition.
Lorenzo de Luca of Italy on Irenice Horta were the champions of the class, with a total score of 1.19. McLain Ward and the beautiful grey mare Clinta were close behind in second with a total score of 2.08. A costly rail saw the leaders from the first competition, Steve Guerdat and Bianca, slip to 8th place on 4 penalties.

There is still plenty of jumping action to come at WEG, with the second round of the individual and team competition commencing tonight AEST to decide which country receives the gold
