The competition is heating up in the second weekend of Dressage by the Sea at Terry Snow's beautiful Willinga Park. After last weekend, the riders and horses have spent a restful week preparing for the second phase of the CDN dressage competition which has drawn competitors from across the country.

It was very interesting to see the improvement, especially in the Lindon Farm FEI Young Rider class with a few days between the last competition and this competition. Competitors were riding in a more relaxed and positive way, with more thought towards the preparation towards the movements.

The Lewis Trucking Prix St Georges was an absolutely outstanding competition. Not taking away from the very deserved winners, the most outstanding test was Sharon Jarvis riding Romanos to finish 5th on 68.627%; a mistake-free test full of expression and impulsion, and no doubt a huge amount of accolades to our para rider attempting to qualify for Tokyo.

This set aside the winner of WillingaPark Quincy B in his first-ever Prix St George test ridden by Jayden Brown with a great score to be a clear winner. In second place, Caroline Wagner with Penny Hill Park Sophia, with another mistake-free test for them following good placings and being equal 1st in the Prix St George last week.

In third place, the outstanding but hot and excitable WillingaPark Fusion Jayden Brown on 70.314. Jayden displayed great empathy in his ride, showing what a super feeling and talented rider Terry Snow has riding the Willinga Park team. In 4th on 68.725, the exciting Total Recall by gold medallist stallion Totilas out of gold medallist mare Weihegold improved from last weekend’s competition with rider Jemma Heran. Sharon Jarvis and Romanos placed 5th on 68.627, and Shannon McKimmie riding Dance Salentin finished in 6th place on 67.696.

The Cox Architecture Grand Prix proved to be as exciting as expected with Mary Hanna again coming 1st and 2nd with Syriana and Calanta respectively with less than one per cent between her two rides. John Thompson and JHT Chemistry came in 3rd on 70.348, with Mary Warren and Mindarah Park Raphael taking out 4th on 67.370. Completing a lovely test to collect a score of 67.282, placing them in 5th, was Rozzie Ryan and Jarrah R. Michelle Baker and Bradgate Park Puccini finished in 6th on 66.761.

Victorian Jess Dertell again showed her superiority in the Bay Coast Roofing Under 25 Intermediate II with a fabulous test on Zanzibar with great percentages of 68.559%. Following close behind on 65.559 was Claire Plenty and Queensland, with Sienna Hawkins and Tallyho Something Saintly finishing in 3rd on 63.676.

Many other outstanding performances from today included some serious competition between Jayden Brown, Brett Parbery and Grace Kay in the Khonke’s Own medium championship. Grace finishing 1st in the 4B and 2nd in the 4C to clinch the champion medium horse. An outstanding performance on her very beautiful horse, WG Confederate.
