World number one showjumper Kent Farrington has suffered a serious leg injury in a fall at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida, USA.

The American Olympic silver medallist was riding Lucifer V in a 1.30m class yesterday when the horse bucked. Kent came off and twisted as he landed on his feet — injuring his lower right leg in the process. The aptly named Lucifer V is owner by young showjumper Jenn Gates, daughter of  Bill Gates.

We wish Kent a speedy recovery.
