German Championships
Another two top horses have been pulled from the German Championships. Kristina Bröring-Sprehe’s 2012 and 2016 Olympic mount, Desperados FRH, will not compete in the German Championships due to injury. The 17-year-old stallion’s injury comes just three months after returning from more than a year off with another injury. Isabell Werth has also been forced to withdraw Emilio, her world number three horse with whom she won last year’s national title — the 12-year-old gelding has also been withdrawn due to injury. Isabell with still ride Weihegold OLD, her world number one ranked mare.

The two withdrawals follow the announcement that Dorothee Schneider’s horse, Showtime FRH, will not compete at the German Championships due to injury.
It is not known the extent of the injuries, and whether or not these three horses will be back in action for Aachen CHIO — the main selection event for the German WEG team. Both Desperados and Showtime were part of the gold medal winning German team at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Danish Championships
Meanwhile, Cathrine Dufour and Atterupgaards Cassidy are on track to again be crowned Danish Champions with a win in the Grand Prix class yesterday. The pair scored a huge 80.480% to win, ahead of Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Blue Hors Zepter on 77.380%. Third place went to Anna Zibrandtsen and the stallion Arlando on 72.380%. The top eight horses scored 70% or higher.
