Australia's Young Showjumpers Shine in the Larapinta Finale

By Equestrian Life

The final day of Larapinta was an exciting display of finals, with the Juniors, Amateurs and Stal Tops Young Rider Series Leg 2 taking place.

It was Olivia Price and Lafayette Mvnz who proved victorious in the first class of the day, the Kolora Lodge Junior Final 1.25m.

Speaking of the mare, Olivia shared “she was a last-minute swap in; she was actually on a bit of a break as she’s done a lot for me over the years, and I swapped her in when another of my horses couldn’t come. She’s just jumped amazing.”

In what proved to be an incredibly competitive class, it was Jack Barker and Tulare For Quinar who were second on a time of 42.18, with Skye Hosie and Athena NZPH in third.

The class was generously sponsored by Kolora Lodge, with Michelle quick to praise Australian junior riders “the standard of the juniors is very strong, and the horse power is just amazing.”

In another testing Graeme Watts course, the Stonewall Amateur Final 1.20m saw only 6 return to the final round, where Victoria Hawthorn and Cecee were crowned the winners on a time of 56.06, with no jumping penalties. Rebecca Bates and WHF Colin Frissell were second, with Thomas Madigan and La Chance in third.

The final class of the day was the Stal Tops Young Rider Series Leg 2, where Australia’s best contend for strong prize money. Supported by Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander and her husband Jan Tops, the Stal Tops Young Rider Series is now in its sixth season. Showcasing four events scheduled over the year, Young Riders can score points at each leg, with the highest-scoring combination being crowned the series winner.

It was an impressive 1-2 for 15 year old Charlie Magnier with Notre Dame De Bourguignon and Quinn Z, with Skye Hosie and Athena NZPH rounding out the top three.
