CDI Grand Prix Special PB for Jayden Brown & Quincy B

By Equestrian Life

Saturday saw another podium finish for Jayden Brown at Addington CDI (UK), with the Australian rider placing second aboard WillingaPark Quincy B in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special.

The pair received a PB score of 71.319%, which easily topped their previous best CDI Grand Prix Special score of 69.958% achieved at Lier CDI earlier this month.

Performances in the Grand Prix Special are significant in terms of potential Paris Olympic team nomination. The Competition Criteria section of Australia’s Nomination Criteria for Paris requires riders to have “demonstrated experience in a minimum of two Grand Prix Special Tests at CDI3* or above (between 1 January 2023 and 24 June 2024)”. This test marks Jayden and Quincy’s third during that time period.

The Competition Criteria also requires combinations to have achieved “two scores approaching or exceeding 69% in Grand Prix Tests at a CDI3* or above” during the qualifying period, with greater weight placed on performances this year.

Earlier at Addington CDI, Jayden and Quincy finished second in the CDI3* Grand Prix on a score of 71.217%. The pair also have Grand Prix scores of 68% (Hickstead CDI3*, May 2023), 69.804% (Hartpury CDI3*, July 2023), 69.674% (Le Mans CDI3*, February 2024), and 71.37% (Lier CDI4*, March 2024).

Australia’s Nomination Criteria is of course not solely based on the Competition Criteria and scores alone, and there is also Subjective Criteria. You can read the criteria in full here.

The CDI3* Grand Prix Special at Addington saw British rider Becky Moody and her gelding Jagerbomb back up their Grand Prix victory to again finish at the top of the field on a score of 76.191%.

In other classes, Jayden also contested the CDI1* Inter 1 with WillingaPark Fangio, finishing fifth of 18 combinations on a score of 68.235%. Earlier, the pair finished sixth in the CDI1* Prix St Georges on 68.529%.

Addington has been a successful event for the Aussies, with Sharon Jarvis also enjoying success in the CPEDI classes earlier in the week.
