Mattea Davidson claims Shepparton World Cup

Queensland show jumper Mattea Davidson has won the first Australian League World Cup Qualifier for 2024, jumping a double clear to claim victory with Checkamour D in Shepparton, Victoria on Saturday.

It was Mattea's first World Cup qualifier win and she did it in style, also taking second place aboard Jaybee Vigilante. Mattea, a former eventer, produced the only two double clears of the competition over David Sheppard's challenging course. Checkamour D stopped the clock at 57.65, with Jaybee Vigilante (who is also a former eventer) posting a time of 58.99.

“What a show! Thank you to the Shepparton Committee [NVSJC] for a wonderful event. We couldn’t be prouder of our team of horses, walking away with first (Checkamour D) and second (Jaybee Vigilante) in the Southern Cross Event Hire CSI-W NVSJC World Cup,” said Mattea following the event, adding that her next stop would be the CSI-W at Dressage & Jumping with the Stars.

Third place went to Sam Overton and Oaks Cassanova. The pair posted the quickest time in the second round, but unfortunately collected four faults.

The World Cup Qualifier was held as part of the 2024 Northern Victorian Show Jumping Club World Cup Festival.
