2018 Australian Dressage Championships (Day One)

The 2018 Australian Dressage Championships kicked off today at Boneo Park in Victoria, with the Para Equestrian riders in action across all five grades.

The Grade I saw one competitor contest both the Individual and Team tests. Morgan Webb Liddle and Don Armani produced two fantastic performances to win both tests with 61.905% and 63.095% respectively.

Bridget Murphy and Koora-lyn Sunrise won the Grade II Individual Test on 64.755%, while Joann Formosa and her gold medal winning horse, Worldwide PB, won the Team Test with 69.141%. Unfortunately Joann had to retire prior to the start of the Individual Test.

In the Grade III there was just one combination, Elizabeth Anne Skinner and Freedom Spyda. The pair won both tests, scoring 65.539% in the Individual Test and 67.549% in the Team Test.

The Grade IV was a much bigger class, with eight combinations in action. The Individual Test went to Amanda Parsons and LBA Zhia on a score of 69.268%; second went to Matilda Carnegie and Devils Chocolate on 67.683%. In the Team Test, the placings were reversed with Matilda and Devils Chocolate winning on 69.083%, and Amanda with LBA Zhia second on 67.167%.

Chelsea De Jonge and Boy were the sole Grand V combination, scoring 65.388% in the Team Test and 62.699% in the Individual Test.

The Pony Novice combinations were also in action today at Boneo. The Pony Novice 2.2 went to Justine Greer and Roseglen Pop Art on 69.762%, with Mithril Samwise ridden by Nicole Donald in second place. Nicole and Mithril Samwise won the 2.3 on 69.311%, making them the overall Pony Novice Champions.
