It was a freezing Victorian winter day down at the Boneo Winter CDI, but that didn’t stop competitors in the Grand Prix CDI-W from putting on some fantastic performances.

Alexis Hellyer and Bluefields Floreno topped the class with a score of 70.478%, giving the pair a second required 69%+ qualifying score for the World Equestrian Games (WEG). Second place went to Brett Parbery and DP Weltmieser on 70.435% - this combination already had the two required qualifying scores, however a great performance today in front of selectors was certainly a great outcome.

Third place went to Judy Dierks and Diamond Star on 69.348% - so a second WEG qualifying score for this combination as well. Fourth went to Shannan Goodwin and Aristede with a great score of 68.717%; this combination already had the two required 69%+ qualifying scores leading into this event.

As a result of today’s competition, there are now four Australian based riders who have recorded the two required 69%+ qualifying scores. This allows them to be considered for WEG selection. These riders are Alexis Hellyer and Bluefields Floreno, Judy Dierks and Diamond Star, Shannan Goodwin and Aristede, and Brett Parbery and DP Weltmieser.

Competition continues tomorrow at Boneo, and Equestrian Life will be live streaming the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W from 12.20pm. Make sure you tune in!
