Australians Simone Pearce and Briana Burgess are celebrating excellent results at the Longines FEI / WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo, Netherlands. 

On Friday, the pair qualified for the YH Final for six-year-old horses. Simone led the qualifying round on Feodoro, with the Furstenball gelding scoring 9.02 points (including the only ten of the class, for his walk). Briana placed fourth with Jazz gelding Gerion in the same class, scoring 8.94 points.

In Sunday’s final, the results varied considerably from the qualifying round. Simone and Feodoro finished in equal seventh on 8.64 points, while Briana and Gerion finished in ninth place on 8.44 points. Although they were unable to match their scores from the first round, their final scores were still exceptional and to finish in the top ten at the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses is a truly amazing effort! The class was won by Lordswood Dancing Diamond and Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier, with the Dancier gelding scoring a whopping 9.72 points — including a ten for trot and perspective.

Full results

In the YH Final for five-year-old horses, Simone and powerful mare Casablanca finished in equal fourth place on 9.0 points. This result closely mirrored the qualifying class, where the pair also finished fourth with 9.16 points. The same three horses finished above Casablanca in the qualifying round and final. The winner, Don Martillo ridden by Ann-Christin Wiencamp, scored 9.76 in the qualifier and 9.74 in the final.

Australian Rebecca Rooke and Muschamp Royal Black also competed in the five-year-old class. The pair contested the Small Final for five-year-old-horses and scored 7.68 points — greatly improving on their score of 7.14 points in the qualifying round.
