The Eriskay pony, originally known as the ‘Western Isle Pony’ or ‘Hebridean Pony’, is an ancient breed of Scottish pony that is currently classified as critically endangered. The Eriskay Pony Society has only 7 listed licensed stallions, meaning the amount of pure-bred Eriskay ponies is extremely low.

These gorgeous grey ponies are often mistaken as a type of Highland Pony, but careful research into their genetic makeup proved that they are in fact their own breed.

Eriskay ponies are nearly always grey in colour, and stand between 12 and 13.2 hh. They are a solid and muscular breed, who are known for their calm temperament and tough nature. Eriskay ponies are native to the Hebridian Islands in Scotland, and live in extremely harsh and cold environments.
