The 2017 Burghley Horse Trials kicks off at 9am today UK time — so that’s this evening here in Australia!

The first horse inspection took place yesterday, with 61 horse and rider combinations from eight countries set to make up the start list in the CCI4* event. Only one horse was held for re-inspection: Roo Fox’s Fleet Street, before being passed on second presentation.

Kristina Cook and Star Witness are first in the order to go and will kick-start the dressage phase. Andrew Hoy and Blue Frontier will be the first Aussies to go as No.20, followed by Paul Tapner and Bonza King of Rouges at No.21. Warren Lamperd and Silvia will ride as No. 27.
